Golden week 2010

Today is the "day of Showa(昭和の日)". It's a national holiday, I needed to go to the college to join the seminar. Instead, tomorrow is day off! And this is my beginning of this year's golden week! I'll have 6 days series holidays.

I'm not going to post article during golden week as usual... I will write new article on April 6th. See you then... lol

Thank you.

chunky chili oil

These days, "chunky chili oil(具入り辣油)" is popular in Japan. Chili oil is one of the Chinese seasoning, main ingredients of chili oil are sesame-seed oil and chili. I used to use it when I eat dumplings, but I've never eaten layou only.

I don't know why chunky chili oil became popular, but I like it. It's not so spicy, but it's delicious. Many people say, "it's difficult to buy it at supermarket". I agree with these people's view. I couldn't buy it at supermarket, but today I could find it... lol

It's cost 390 JPY (about 4 USD), it's bit expensive than other chili oil I felt...

Thank you.

Luxury McDonald's?

Last year, Japan McDonald's started their new style coffee shop named "McCafe". I've been there several times since then, but I had never ordered "cappuccino" or "cafe au lait". But today I ordered "cappuccino" at there, because there were no available seat at Starbucks or any other coffee shops and it was raining. I don't want to drink "cappuccino" outside when it was raining, so I ordered "cappuccino" at McDonald's this evening. I felt the price was cheaper than Starbucks and Tully's, but I prefer Starbucks or Tully's...

Anyway, I heard the news that about Japan McDonald's on Monday. On 25th April, Japan McDonald's opened 13 stores at Shibuya-ku and Minato-ku. I didn't have time to visit these stores yet, but I heard these stores have many different things...

Crews' uniform is different. I heard it looks luxurious. Also the store design looks luxurious. Wood-effect tables, leather like chair, quiet colored wall, etc...

But they are selling same menu. Same hamburger with a little bit expensive prices. I heard the prices at these 13 stores are 10 to 50 JPY (0.1 USD to 0.5 USD) more expensive than usual stores... I cannot believe that many people queued up for these stores on opening day...

Thank you.

3D TV at home

Last week, Japanese electronics company Panasonic released 3D TV called "3D VIERA" for household use. I'm not going to buy 3D TV, but I checked it on Saturday. I went to the nearest electronics reseller to try 3D TV. I went to the TV floor first then I found a queue.

I've never seen such situation. They are queue up for the demo of 3D TV!!! I also queue up for the demo of 3D TV... lol

I think, I had to wait about 5 minutes to try 3D TV there... lol

There were 2 stands with glasses in front of 50-inch plasma display. We need to wear the glasses to watch 3D TV. In fact, I saw the 3D TV when I was waiting for my turn and I saw double picture on 3D TV. I forgot the exact price of the "3D VIERA", but I think, it's about 500,000 JPY (about 5,000 USD). After I watched demo movie, I felt that the 3D TV is really cool! I could have a great experience. But I don't think the 3D TV will be great hit. There are several problem I think.

First of all, I don't want to wear glasses to watch TV! I felt the 3D glasses for 3D VIERA was lighter than the 3D glasses that I worn to watch 3D Avatar at the theatre. But I don't want to wear it to watch TV...

Second, there are not so many 3D contents yet. According to the leaflet, there are no 3D compatible Blue-ray Disc yet as of 25th March. Also there are only a few programs that 3D compatible broadcasting and these are all paid-channel.

Third, the price. I think, I can buy cheaper 50-inch plasma display at the same reseller. Of course, I cannot watch 3D TV on cheaper 50-inch plasma display. Also, we must buy 3D compatible Blue-ray Disc recorder to watch and record 3D contents with Blue-ray Disc. So, if you have already Blue-ray Disc recorder, we must buy another recorder to watch 3D contents... I don't think it's a smart way to watch 3D contents with it. We must pay twice for Blue-ray Disc recorder.

Finally, there are not so many programs that I want to watch on 3D... For instance, do you want to watch comedy show on 3D? Do you want to watch news channel on 3D? I don't think so...

I believe these problems might be resolved in near future.

How do you think, do you want to buy 3D TV?

Thank you.

The death day of prescription

I might have to say "The death day of Statute of limitations" as the title of today's article. I'm not very good with laws. In fact, I've never took the lecture of Jurisprudence. So, today I'm gonna write about this as lay person.

I don't think that many media are treating the reform plan for Code of Criminal Procedure in a big way. And many Japanese people including me do not figure this plan out, I think.

I found NHK's article that the reform plan will be passed on the diet and will be approved on 27th April. I don't know exactly about this reform plan, but I heard prescriptions for serious matter will be repeal.

So, which crimes are the serious matter? Well, I think, murder must be the serious matter, and prescriptions for murder must be repeal.

I think, I should study more about these things...

Thank you.

back to winter again

I think, I've already written more than twice the article that about crazy weather in this year. But the crazy weather is still covering us...

Yesterday the highest temperature marked around 25 degrees (Celsius) in Tokyo. We call it "summer day" if the day that marked more than 25 degrees in the highest temperature. Yesterday was hot and nice weather. I felt the summer came to me...

But.

But, winter came back today.

It's raining and the highest temperature was less than 10 degrees (Celsius)... The temperature went down more than 10 degrees! I think, many people caught cold under such a crazy weather.

Thank you.

Tokyo girls collection in Okinawa?

I'm not so interested in these kind of event because I'm not girl. But I felt this event is crazy. "Tokyo Girls Collection In Okinawa". "Tokyo Girls Collection" is one of the fashion event for girls that usually hold in Tokyo or near Tokyo.

Anyway, Tokyo is the capital city of Japan and located in east-Japan. But Okinawa is one of the prefecture in South-west of Japan. There are many US military bases. Some of them are under negotiation (I think, it's not negotiation but the government think it's "negotiation") now.

I mean Tokyo and Okinawa different place in Japan and I don't think these are located near. Usually the Tokyo Girls Collection hold their event in Tokyo but this time they will hold the event in Okinawa. How do you think about this?

Thank you.

How to pronounce it?

I heard the news that half of Europe's flight will be in the air from today. I think, this news must be welcomed for many many people. I don't have any schedule to visit Europe this year, but I also welcomed this news, because my friends couldn't go back to Japan... (but I wanna visit their some day.)

Anyway, I'm listening to BBC's podcasting (NewsPod) on my iPhone and I used to listen about the eruption of volcano in Iceland. But I think, I've never heard the name of volcano on the podcasting. I also read TIME magazine (both online version and printed version) and there are some useful information for me, because they are also writing about the volcano and their are name of volcano!

I found the name of volcano but I was wondering how to pronounce it... "Eyjafjallajokull"...

Of course, I'm checking Japanese news such as the Yomiuri Shimbun, NHK and other news medias. But I've never heard that they pronounce the volcano's name... Mostly they read as "volcano in Iceland...".

I wanted to know how to pronounce the volcano name "Eyjafjallajokull", so I searched it on Wikipedia. And I found the audio clip on Wikipedia... I also searched on Wikipedia (Japanese version) and I've got how to write it in Japanese. In Japanese "Eyjafjallajokull" is "エイヤフィヤットラヨークトル". Now I can pronounce it, but it's tough for me... lol

Anyway, I hope all of flights will be available soon!

Thank you.

1Q84 book3

I wanted to post this article yesterday, but I couldn't do so... I think, I should post an article from my iPhone if I cannot use computer with the internet connection...

Anyway, yesterday was the release day of Haruki Murakami's latest novel "1Q84 book 3(vol.3)". I couldn't get it yet but I will buy it as soon as possible. I've already written about 1Q84 after he released other 2 books (1Q84 book 1 and book 2), 3 times... lol
You can check these 3 articles from here, here and here... lol

I heard that 1Q84 book 3 sold 500,000 copies on Friday. Also the publisher have already decided to print additional 200,000 copies of "1Q84 book 3". I think, many people will talk about this book, but I don't want to listen to these things until I will read it...

Thank you.

Texas weather?

My friend told me the meaning of the phrase "Texas weather" after I wrote "High and Low" in this week. I wanted to write exactly about "Texas weather". I've never been to Texas so I don't know how weather changes in Texas, but I think it might changes rapidly.

I wrote about this on Monday, but the crazy weather in Tokyo is continuing until now... And maybe it will be continued until this weekend. Today was really cold. I heard 2 crazy stories that about this crazy weather. 1st one is the highest temperature, in Tokyo the highest temperature of today was about 9 degrees (Celsius) and it's about 10 degrees lower than average. The Japan Meteorological Agency announced "Frost information" in April for several areas, it's the first time in 14 years.

2nd one is the snow flied in some rural area near Tokyo. I think, the Winter season came back to us. I also heard that the tomorrow will be rainy day again and the temperature will be low like today. I hope the spring season will come back to us very very soon...

Thank you.

Do you know TOEIC SW test? I didn't know about that...

There were some sample exams on their web site. I felt it quite interesting.

I want to try it soon but I want to know how many people are taking this test...

I'm searching about these things these days and I'll try it next few months. I hope I'll write about that when I take an examination.

Thank you.

re-

I try to reuse something, repair something to use them again, rebuild something for another way to use them, recycle something for future, and re-... I try to re-something. It's kinda like "mottainai"(もったいない).

Today my shoes came back from the store. The photo on top is part of my shoes. I used to get into this shoes, especially these months. I love to get into this shoes because it's really comfortable and suitable when I wear the suit. I've forgot how long I'm using this shoes, but I think it long. So, there were some troubles on this shoes. The shoes got down at the heels and it was tough to identify the logo on inner sole...

Then I went to Regal Shoes Store to repair the shoes several weeks ago. I've never ordered repair on shoes but I think it's good because I can get into the new comfortable and suitable shoes again.

Thank you.

High and Low

I think, I caught cold and many people caught cold because of this really crazy weather. Yesterday, the highest temperature in Tokyo was more than 20 degrees (Celsius). I felt that the summer is coming! It was warm day with humid air.

But today, the highest temperature is about 14 degrees (Celsius) but it marked at early morning. So, the temperature during daytime hours was about 10 degrees (Celsius), I felt. And it was raining.

According to weather forecast, this crazy weather will be continued...

Tomorrow will be sunny and the highest temperature will be more than 20 degrees (Celsius)! I think, more and more people will caught cold because of these crazy weather!

Thank you.

a blog is...

My friend told me that he found a great blog post. I read that blog post this evening. I will write the blog post below.

A blog is a broadcast, not a publication. If it stops moving, it dies.
-Andrew Sullivan

I don't know who is Andrew Sullivan, but his quotes that I wrote on this blog is really nice, I felt. If you know about Andrew Sullivan, please tell me who he is... lol

Anyway, I couldn't post an article yesterday but I'm not going to stop moving because I don't want to make my blog die.

Thank you.

system failure?

I need to know more about the allowance for children that the Japanese government started on 1st April. I surprised after I heard the news that a woman got allowance for her 256 children. I believe there are no such people who have 256 children, but she got that money.

I also heard that there are some instructions that is "how to get allowance for children more". Of course, there are a lot of instructions that the government is providing. But there are more and more instructions that other organizations are providing. All these instructions tell us legal way to get allowance for children especially for foreigners.

Anyway, I need to check more to write about this. So, if I can, I wanna write again.

Thank you.

Sakura sakura

I didn't have much time to watch cherry blossom this year, but today I walked around a little bit and watched it a little bit. I heard the best season to watch cherry blossom was last Saturday in Tokyo. Yesterday was rainy so, I felt that I may not be able to watch beautiful cherry blossom.

The rain didn't have much effect on cherry blossom, I felt. Some streets were fulfilled with petal of cherry blossom but it was good. I took some of these sakura (cherry blossom) photos and I uploaded them on flickr and facebook. I'm allowing only my friends to watch photos on Facebook, so please check my photos from flickr. You can check them from "http://www.flickr.com/photos/masaya_yoshizawa/", if you like.

iPad, iPad, iPod

On Saturday, Apple released "iPad" in the United States.

I'm not living in the United States, so I cannot buy it yet... Of course, I need to think about it before I'll buy it, but I cannot touch it... :(

I found some live streams on Ustream. I watched some of live streams on Sunday... lol

I felt it's useful but I want to touch it at retail store after the release day in Japan. I may buy it but I may not buy it, because I want to buy new MacBook Pro and iPhone (next-gen.). I should get ready for that... lol

So, I decided to make an iPad! lol
You can download paper-crafting version of iPad from "http://lab.3fl.jp/?download=ipad-papercraft.zip". I've not make it yet, but some say it's looks nice.

You should try it!

Sorry

Yesterday, I wrote that "MaSaYa's days" will be 3D from today. But I was joking. Yesterday was April fool's day and I'm not going to introduce 3D version of "MaSaYa's days".

I found really a lot of web sites in Japan changed into April fool's day version. I surprised that many sites started their own 3D version like my blog... lol
Yahoo! Japan, goo, eiga.com, google maps (street view) and more. They are offering 3D version page for April fool's day.

Also google Japan is offering crazy Japanese input keyboard. (Photo on top is the prototype.) According to their blog, we can type Japanese faster than any other type keyboard. Because we can type both hiragana and kanji directly, if we use the prototype. There are a lot of keys.... lol

One of my favorite web sites "Gigazine" is reporting the web sites that are offering "April fool's day version pages". You can check the article from "http://gigazine.net/index.php?/news/comments/20100401_matome_april_fool/".

Anyway, yesterday's post "MaSaYa's days will be 3D from tomorrow" is exactly the 500th article. Thank you for your reading and I'm really pleasure to introduce you bland-new "MaSaYa's days". Of course not in 3D... I changed the whole page and added some stand-alone pages such as "About MaSaYa". Please enjoy brand-new MaSaYa's days!

Thank you.

[April fool] MaSaYa's days will be 3D from tomorrow

Photo from: google street view

I'm so pleasure to introduce you new "MaSaYa's days 3D". You will need 3D eyeglass to read my blog from tomorrow. So, you should go to the nearest shop to get 3D eyeglass, right now! Also, 2D version of MaSaYa's days will be offered in limited time. I think, I can offer it for about a week. So, get the 3D glass until next week!

There are a lot of 3D movies. I've already watched Avatar in 3D. Many movies are also offering 3D version these days. And I'm so inspired by these movies, then I decided to start "MaSaYa's days 3D".

Google has already started their new service in 3D. So, you can practice for MaSaYa's days 3D on their site or photo on top of this article.

Please wait a moment until the grand opening of "MaSaYa's days 3D".

Thank you.
Good day & Peace and Smile!
