2020 New Year Resolutions

Hi nice to see you again!
It’s 2020!
Since I couldn’t update my blog last year, I hope I can update my blog more in this year.
It’s already fortnight passed since new year begins, but I believe it’s ok to showing off my new year's resolutions.
But before that I will review my last year's resolutions and quick reviews.

2019's new year resolutions and its review

I set 5 resolutions last year, and I achieved 3 of them. But 3 of 5 is not suitable for showing in this blog, then I chose 2 of them. In this 2 resolutions, I achieved 1 of them.
  • Read 5 English written books
I set this resolution for 2019 because I need time to read English written books, and I wanted to read them more quickly. But unfortunately, I could read only 2 books in 2019. Which is Murder on the Orient Express and Clash of Civilizations. I believe my read time got a little faster.
  • Run more

Yes, I could run more than 2018 but it was only 20km. So this year I will run 100km more than 2019. Actually, I could run only 75 km last year.

2020 New Year Resolutions

This year I put 17 resolutions (!?). This year my resolutions are more specific (last year's one are not so specified...). Here's some of my new year's resolutions.

  • Read 6 English written books
Yes, it's similar to last year's one, but I put more challenging 6 English written books. I need to read 1 book in every 2 months, but I believe I can do it.

  • Run more than 200km

Yes, it's similar to last year's one too. I put them in more specified. I will run more than 200 km in this year! (But it will start in April, because I cannot run on icy snow road...)
Check my result on Strava!
  • Reduce the use of PET bottles

Trying to be more eco-friendly. I also donated some money for MyMizu(https://www.mymizu.co/home-en) Japanese start up which help people to find water refill station nearby.
I don't know how many PET bottles I bought in a year, but I believe I bought quite a lot PET bottles. And I'm going to reduce the use of PET bottles. Now I'm counting the number of PET bottles I used since 1st January.

  • HelloChinese

I wanted to learn Chinese, but I couldn't continue them. This year I put this onto my new year's resolution.
Currently I'm learning Chinese with iPhone app which called HelloChinese(https://apps.apple.com/app/id1001507516), and I've just achieved 7th day.

I will update these resolutions!

Thanks,
Masaya

Rainy in cherry blossom roads

As I mentioned last article, yesterday we went to famous cherry blossom spot.
Nijukken road("二十間道路") is famous for cherry blossom and selected as one of 100 beautiful cherry blossom spots in Japan.

Nijukken road is located in Shizunai southern part of Hokkaido island, and which about 140 km away from Sapporo (where I'm currently living).

Unfortunately, yesterday's weather was not good, but cherry blossoms were really beautiful!!

The cherry blossom trees are located in next to horse farms. In this week, there's local festival called "Shizunai Cherry Blossom Festival(しずないさくらまつり)". Because the cherry blossom here got very famous and we are in national holidays, then there's a lot of tourists!

There's so many people and most of them come with their cars, then there's traffic jam. We took about an hour to park my car at parking lot. Also, it seems like bus package tour and I saw some people from other countries.

Thanks

P.S.
I also updated my Japanese blog with similar story, if you have interested please visit my Japanese blog.

Where two flowers bloom at same time

Where two flowers bloom at same time

It's spring and we are in "Golden Week(ゴールデンウィーク)" which 4 national holidays are gathered in a week.
Today is labor day, but most of Japanese companies are not holiday. So, labor day is not one of 4 holidays in this week. (But for me, it's holiday).

Spring is start of fiscal year in Japan. Most of schools, colleges, companies and governments start their fiscal year in April. Typical image of new fiscal year in Japan are new employees and new comers join to welcome events of schools/companies under cherry blossoms. That because cherry bloom between end of March and beginning of April in most place of Japan.

My hometown also bloom cherry in end of March or beginning of April.
Also there's another flower which bloom in similar season, Japanese plum bloom few weeks earlier than cherry in most of places in Japan.

I mentioned "most of places in Japan", because there's a few exceptions. In places which located north Japan such as Sapporo(where I'm currently living), these flowers bloom a little late.
In Sapporo, cherry bloom at around beginning of May. And Japanese plum in Sapporo bloom in similar season. Which means we can see these two flowers bloom at same time.

Yesterday, we went to nearby park to enjoy these flowers and visit art museum close to the park.

Parks

Yesterday was national holiday, so there's a lot of people at park to enjoy cherry and plum blossom. Most of people are drinking beer or some other kind of alcohol, and eat something. One of the difference between my home town and Sapporo is BBQ. People here seems they love BBQ. There's place which we can enjoy BBQ inside park. When we walked around I've got very hungry because of smells.

I wish I can do BBQ soon...

Art Museum

There's art museum very close to my flat, and currently they are exhibiting "Masterpieces from Bridgestone Museum of Art". Bridgestone Museum of Art is located in Tokyo and which is founded by founder of Bridgestone.

I couldn't have time to visit these exhibit these days, but fortunately I could have time to visit here. Since there's a lot of masterpieces, I could enjoy them and the exhibits included some famous pictures.

I found some favourite masterpieces there, but the most favourite one is "Dusk in Venice, San Giorgio Maggiore by Twilight" by Claude Monet.
Of course, I could not take photo of them, but I though I wish I could buy replica of that.

I'm planning to go to different place to see cherry blossom later this week. So, if I could go I might upload different story.

Thanks.

It was Autumn

I born and raised in Tokyo, so I feel mid-October to beginning of November is still Autumn. But since I moved to Sapporo which is far north from Tokyo, I realise it's not.
It is Winter already, especially this year. There's snow already and temperature is in one digit in C even in day time.

Last year, I was in China in October and November, so I couldn't feel seasonal change in Japan and couldn't see beautiful autumn in Japan.
Fortunately, I'm in Sapporo and I could make some time to see beautiful scenery this year.

Last weekend, I went to Noboribetsu (登別:のぼりべつ) with my family to enjoy spa there.
During the drive way to Noboribetsu and back to Sapporo, I could see beautiful scenery. I had dash cam and I shoot video, unfortunately my car's windscreen was not clean but I think you can feel how beautiful it was.

I took this video when I was driving lake side of lake Shikotsu (支笏湖:しこつこ).

After we came back, we went to walk near my flats.

Recently, I moved to current flats which is close to beautiful parks, museums and university. Which is really great place to take a walk or run around.

And weekend before that, I went to Kyogoku (京極:きょうごく) which is famous for clean spring water and famous for many tourists.

You can see many tourists are taking photos and chatting on bridge of Kyogoku. This spring water is drinkable so these people cross the bridge and get water to drink.
Some locals bring large bottles to collect water there. We also did collect water there and took some photos.

Local convenience stores are selling this water which bottled in near by factory.
Kyogoku is close to famous skiing spot Niseko (ニセコ), and this area is very good location to see autumn scenery.

We climbed the nearby hill and took some photos there.

The great fireworks

Today I would like to write about last month's my great experience. On 9th September, I went to Moerenuma art fireworks(モエレ沼芸術花火)in Sapporo. The fireworks held in the park in north of Sapporo city.
I've been to Sapporo for 6+ years, but it's my first time to see this fireworks, but it's very famous in Hokkaido.
This fireworks had started as Moere Summer Festival(モエレサマーフェスティバル) in 2012 and changed its name to Moerenuma art fireworks in 2014. We need to buy ticket to enter the park during the weekend as support for fireworks. There's two type of tickets and it's differ in seat positions, the premium seats in front of main stage were ¥7,000 (about 63 USD) and grass seats which around premium seats were ¥3,500 (about 32 USD).
Since it's my first time to join this event, then I chose cheaper one.

I wrote "grass seats", but to tell the truth there's no seats on grasses just sit on grasses. So we need to bring some kind of sheet to put onto grasses. Also I though it's better to bring something to cover to get warm, because temperatures in Sapporo in September is low enough to catch cold at night.
This year start was delayed 40 minutes because of final flight delay on nearby airfield. Also we waited some gap during the event due to wind, but the event was fantastic and worth to see them live. The combination of songs and fireworks, the sound and impact of fireworks and so on. I wish I could join this event next year as well.
Thanks.

Mountain day

Tomorrow is 11th August, and it's a new public holiday starting this year called "Mountain Day(山の日:Yama-no-hi)". There is already sea day in Japan, but there's no mountain day until this year.

Until this year, there's no public holidays in August. Also there's no public holidays in June, but due to this new public holiday June is the only month without public holiday in Japan.

Okurayama jump stadium with my bicycle

I don't usually climb mountains, but I climbed hill by bicycle this evening to celebrate this new public holiday.

Bicycle ride

It's already June, and it have been more than 6 months passed since I posted last article.
It seems I need some kind of reminder to write new article. In most of cases, I use evernote to write my draft article. So I can edit my article anywhere and anytime. In fact, I wrote some draft on my evernote, but I couldn't upload them to my blog due to some reasons.

Today, I'm going to write about the event that I joined a month ago. But before that I should write about my bicycle and previous event.
Last year, I bought another bicycle to make my holiday much fun. I have the cyclo-cycle that I bought 7 years ago, and last year I bought road bike.

Here is my new bicycle. Focus's CAYO EVO TEAM Replica. It's my first carbon made bicycle, and my first road bike. It's far light than my previous bicycle and have a better gears. Which means, I can ride faster and longer with this bicycle. Then I joined bicycle ride event in Sapporo last year.

Last August I joined Tour of Kamui Ishikari-Shinshinotsu stage, and rode about 140 km in a day. It's not race and there were 3 different groups which divided by average speed (25 km/h, 20 km/h and 15 km/h). I chose middle, but my group was faster than other groups then we needed to upgraded to the fastest group. That was really tough for me to ride about 100 km including mountains with average speed 25 km/h, but I arrived to goal with them.

I rode my bicycle several times last year, but I couldn't join any bicycle event except this one. There's cold winter here in Sapporo and we cannot ride bicycle during winter because snow covers road. Then I started to ride bicycle again in April, and last month I joined Tour of Kamui Sapporo stage. Which is same bicycle event I joined last year, but it's ride in different place. They have several stages and this time I joined Sapporo stage. There's no mountain and not so long stage.

Red line in the map shows my path of my riding. This stage was about 80 km long, and almost flats. But there's strong winds. The strong winds made us slow down to about 10 to 15 km/h even in the fastest group. That was really tough, but final few kilometres the wind stopped and good weather for bicycle riding. I will join these bicycle event this year too, and maybe I will write about the event that I might join.

Thanks.

For so long

After half a year of absence, I finally back to posting my blog.

During half a year, many things changed. First of all, the season change to Autumn!

Last week, I went to Niseko. It was beautiful sunny day, so I took video during my way to Niseko.  That was wonderful drive except why I went there. But I could enjoy beautiful scenery there. Check the video below.

It's my first try to shoot time-lapse video. I couldn't set my iPhone on to my dashboard, so I put my lens-camera put onto dashboard and edited it later.

Not only in Niseko, the leaves in many places turn into red or yellow and looks beautiful. I went to Heiwa-no-taki falls in Sapporo, which is near from my apartment and it's good place to cycle to there.

Then I found this beautiful scene.

Now I can enjoy beautiful and colourful scene here in Hokkaido, but after few weeks these scene will be changed to white. Winter is almost there and I'm going to enjoy snow boarding!

Before the tax hike

Tomorrow is 1st April, in Japan many fledgling people join their companies/schools. Also many things change tomorrow.

Tomorrow the consumption tax in Japan will rise first time since 1997. The tax rate will be 8% and will become 10% in next year. Also other tax will be raise from tomorrow.

For example, petrol price will increase about 5 yen per litre. Because the petrol price will be applied both consumption tax and global warming countermeasures tax.
Well, many people are trying to buy before the tax hike so there were a lot of people waiting to fuelling in front of the petrol stations.

Yes, me too. I fulfilled my car's tank before the tax hike like this.

Beer beer and beer

It's summer here in Sapporo. Getting hotter these days, but it's not hot as Tokyo.
In a hot summer nicely weather day, I would like to drink a beer in outdoor sometimes.
Here's a wonderful solution for that.

Odori Park Summer Beer Festival(さっぽろ大通ビアガーデン)

Odori park is 12 blocks (about 1.5 km) long park which located in centre of Sapporo city.

Odori Park in winter season

Many events hold in this park such as Sapporo Snow Festival and Yosakoi Soran Festival. In summer season, this park change to large beer garden!

5 of 12 blocks turn into beer garden. 4 major Japanese breweries make their place in each blocks. 2 blocks turned into world beer zone and Sapporo German Village zone.

This beer garden will hold during 19th July to 15th August. In this period there are some places which you can enjoy beer garden such as front of Sapporo station.

Beer Beer Beer

I've been in Sapporo for 2 years, but until last weekend I've never enjoyed beer garden in Odori park. I've enjoyed beer garden in front of Sapporo station in 2 years ago, but since then I didn't have chance to go these places. So this is my first time to drink beer in Odori park.

I went there with my colleagues last Sunday. We went to Kirin's block. Kirin is one of the major Japanese breweries.

Many people were enjoying beer on Sunday evening
They are selling some unusual beers.

Tower beer
The tower beer (photo above) is 4 litre beer. Fortunately, it was evening and it's not so hot, then this beer stayed in cold.

Frozen beer

The frozen beer (photo above) is beer but there are frozen beer foam on top of them. This frozen beer foam keep beer cold. And taste a little new.

I could enjoyed these beer in outside. But I would like to go there again, if I have a chance. But next time I would like to go different block to enjoy another experience. lol

Cold Golden Week

It's the last day of this year's golden week. Unfortunately, I was mostly working through this golden week. This was my second time to spend golden week in Sapporo. I believe last golden week was warmer than this year. Or I should say this year's golden week was chilly.

What is Golden Week?

I though, I wrote about golden week before, but I'll write about it in this article. The golden week was large consecutive holidays in Japan. There are 4 national holidays in this week. These are "Showa day(昭和の日):29th April", "Constitution Memorial day(憲法記念日):3rd May", "Greenery day(みどりの日):4th May" and "Children's day(こどもの日):5th May".
Also 6th May was off too because "Children's day" fall on Sunday.
Of course, 1st May is May day then some people take day off on that day.

So, in this year we could take 10 days of consecutive holidays, if you take holidays on 30th April and 2nd May.

In fact, I don't like these kind of consecutive holidays. Most of people are in off and they go somewhere popular. Then they make traffic jams in main roads, also the price of flight ticket get high. So I prefer to take my holidays in different time.

The Weather
Unfortunately, weather while this golden week was bad in Sapporo.
Here's the weather in Sapporo during this golden week.
    • 27th April (Saturday)
      • Rainy occasionally cloudy
    • 28th April (Sunday)
      • Rainy occasionally cloudy
    • 29th April (Showa day)
      • Rainy, later, occasionally cloudy
    • 30th April (Tuesday)
      • Rainy occasionally cloudy
    • 1st May (Wednesday)
      • Rainy, later, occasionally cloudy
    • 2nd May (Thursday)
      • Cloudy, later, occasionally rainy
    • 3rd May (Constitution Memorial day)
      • Rainy
    • 4th May (Greenery day)
      • Rainy
    • 5th May (Children's day)
      • Rainy occasionally cloudy
    • 6th May (Makeup holiday)
      • Rainy occasionally cloudy

Mostly rainy in this golden week... Also the temperature during the golden week was terrible.

Temperature data from Japan Meteorological Agency
It's cold. The temperature during this period were 10 to 3 degrees lower than average year. Anyway, according to weather forecast the weather getting better in this week and the temperature will back to around average. I hope so too.

    Thanks

    Living in Snow Country

First of all, I'm living in Sapporo which is the largest city of Japan's northern island "Hokkaido". Also you should know that I'm not from Sapporo but my home town is Tokyo.

There are many differences between Tokyo and Sapporo. Sapporo is cold and snow so much in winter, but in Tokyo snow is really rare even in winter. I've been here for 1 and half years due to my work, and this winter season was my second time to spend in Sapporo. I mean this is my second time to spend whole winter season in such a snowy place.

    The Second Season

Yesterday, I heard the news that cherry blossoms started to bloom in Fukuoka. Yeah, it's middle of March and I believe the spring is coming. Also I believe we can sense spring. Yes, I sense spring because the temperature getting higher (but around 0 degrees in Celsius) and less snow days. But every weekend of March I experienced snowstorm... I'm not sure about this weekend, but according to weather forecast the weather of this weekend would be good, and I hope so. I don't need snow any more!!

This is my second time to spend whole winter season in Sapporo, and I felt that this season has much snow than previous season. My feeling is true, here's some data that there were much snow in this season than previous or average season.
Depth of Snow from City of Sapporo

Depth of snow (accum.) from city of Sapporo
In both graph, red line is this season's depth of snow. Green line means average season's depth of snow, and blue line means last season's depth of snow. As you can see this season has much snow in Sapporo. The depth of snow was 113 cm in this morning in Sapporo, this is 51 cm more than average season and 57 cm more than last season.

I hope next season would be less snow than this season... Or I might move to not snowy country... lol

    As Season Change

These days the weather getting better and warmer. It's nice, but there also some problems in this place. There are still a mount of snow in many places. On the roof of apartments, road sides and etc... There are some unfortunate accidents in such days. The snow on the roof slip to ground and hit someone or something.

Here's photo which I found these days. The car unfortunately broken by slipped snow from the roof of apartment. I hope it will not happen to my car.

The apartment next to the car park is 4 stories, and I don't want to imagine the result if there was someone and snow hit someone...

Anyway, these kind of accident might be increased in season changes. We should care not to become whether assailant or victim. I hope spring will come to me soon.

    Off-line

In Japan, 5th May is national holiday "こどもの日(Kodomono-hi: Children's day)". On that day, the nuclear power plant in Tomari, Hokkaido stopped the operation for routine inspection. There are 50 nuclear reactors in Japan, and one in Tomari Nuclear Power Plant was the last on-line nuclear power-plant.

Now Japan is in without nuclear power. It's the first time since 1970 when reactors in Tokai Nuclear Power Plant and Tsuruga Nuclear Power Plant went to routine inspection.

And for now, there's no specific schedule that go on-line in any other nuclear reactors in Japan.

Well, no policy, no gain. It seems like that Japanese government could not find any good reason to put some of nuclear reactors go on-line yet.

    Finally, cherry bloomed!!

By the way, cherry trees bloomed in this week! I've been waited more than a month!

Well, it's beautiful. But rainy drops most of petals... My boss told me that cherry trees in Sapporo is short life. Cherry trees bloom in rainy season, then we cannot enjoy the blossom so long...

Look at the photo above, trees on right are cherry trees but most of them became leaves.
I upload some photos that I took today, I hope you can enjoy "short-life" cherry blossom in Sapporo.

    Thank you.

    My favourite coffee time

Hi long time no see. More than 4 months have been passed since I posted last article in last December.
Well, I was in really busy days, but it's not good way to make excuses that I did not update my blog such a long time...

    April and cherry blossom

I'm feeling weird these days. It's April and soon Golden Week(consecutive holidays in May in Japan), but  cherry trees are not bloomed yet. That weird for me. Usually, cherry blossom fall down in this season for me. But there's no cherry blossom yet.

This is because I moved to Sapporo last year. Sapporo is far north from Tokyo that I lived until last August. I didn't care about "桜前線(Sakura-zensen; front line of cherry blossom)", after cherry bloomed in Tokyo. But I found that cherry tree needs more than a month to bloom in Sapporo, compare to Tokyo!

Front line of cherry blossom; from http://tenki.jp

Which means I need to wait about 2 more weeks to see cherry blossom here! See cherry blossom in May!? Well, it might become my first experience to see cherry blossom in May... lol
I hope I can upload some photos of cherry blossom in May.

    New coffee experience

Anyway, let's back to today's title. Coffee!
I love coffee. I drink it mostly everyday. lol

These days, I added new stuff to my collection of coffee tools. Here it is.

This is my new stuff. BIALETTI moka express!
It works simply and tasty. I love this! My friend told me about this, but it's awesome! If you like to drink coffee, you should try this! It's worth to try.

After I bought moka express, my coffee time changed drastically.

By the way, I'm planning to go trip this year. I'm checking following cities, Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipei and Singapore. I'm focusing on these cities because I think I cannot take much time to take holidays. So I'm planning to trip east asian countries.
Well, which city do you think the best?

    Thank you.

    Three months since then.

In the beginning of August, I've been moved to Sapporo-shi due to my job. It's been almost 3 months since then.
Well, I was not interested in Sapporo, neither Hokkaido because flight fares are expensive if I go there from Tokyo. (In fact, it's cheaper to go to Seoul than go to Sapporo from Tokyo) So, I don't know much about there but I need to go there.
Now, I'm getting know about here.
The statue of William Smith Clark
President of the Sapporo Agriculture College (Now the Hokkaido University) in 1876-1877

    Sapporo, Hokkaido
Sapporo-shi is the capital city of Hokkaido prefecture which is in northern Japan. And it's the 4th largest city in Japan. It's about 830 kilometres away from Tokyo.
Hokkaido is the second largest island in Japan ("Honshu:本州" is the largest island in Japan), also it's one of prefectures in Japan.
The plane with funny paint which I board.

I need to board the plane for about 90 minutes to get to Hokkaido from Tokyo. Also, I need to ride train for about an hour to get to Sapporo station from the New Chitose Airport which is the largest airport in Hokkaido.
The plane fly in over Tohoku area which suffered from earthquake and tsunami in March. Of course, I couldn't see any damage from the sky.

    The view from my seat

    My Life in Sapporo

I've never been to Hokkaido, and I didn't have any friends who came from Hokkaido or who is related to Hokkaido. Which mean, I don't have any friends who can meet with easily here. I think, it's good time to make new friends here.
Anyway, the weather in here is not good for me I felt.  It too cold for me as October. Sometimes, the highest temperature are less than 10 degrees...

The trees are getting red and yellow

I think, there are many places which are worth to see here in Hokkaido, but I'm so busy at work and I cannot prepare my time to taking some photos these places. I hope I can update my blog again with some photos.

    Thank you.

    The earthquake and I

    The Earthquake Country

Earthquake is immediate disaster for Japanese people, I think. I heard that earthquake hits anywhere in the world 1,500,00 times in each year (average). And about 10% of these earthquakes occurs around Japan.

The earthquakes which are larger than M 5.0 occurs 1,500 times anywhere in the world in each year (average), and about 20% of these earthquakes occurs around Japan. Now you can imagine that we the Japanese experience many earthquakes in our daily lives.

The map below shows how many active faults and where these are. Active faults are one of the main source of earthquake.

(Map from Google, data from AIST)

Not only the active faults, but trenches and troughs are also important to know more about earthquakes.

    (Map from Google)

The map above is maps around Japan with troughs and trenches. (I wrote lines on maps so, it's not so accurate).

So, there are many reasons that earthquakes occurs around Japan so much.

(Map and data from ADEP: 1st Jan., 2011 to 1st June, 2011.
Figure shows earthquakes which marked as between magnitude 3.0 and magnitude 9.0.)

The map above it shows how many earthquakes hit Japan in this year, and how strong they were. Well, there are more than 3,000 times of earthquakes had been recorded in half of this year.

I showed some data about earthquakes, but I'm not expert of earthquake. Please tell me when you find some problems.

    The 3.11

3 months ago, M 9.0 earthquake hit eastern Japan. After the earthquake, the large tsunami hits around Tohoku area and destroyed many things there.

Today is the exactly 3 months after the earthquake.

According to Metropolitan police department, 15,405 people were killed by the earthquake/tsunami, and 8,095 people are still missing. (as of 10th June.) About 90,000 people are still staying in evacuation centres. It seems like TV stations lost their interest to these people, now they are broadcasting only about nuclear power plants, political issues and Korean artists.

    The energy shortage

Tokyo Electric Co.,(TEPCO) are providing their electrical energy to Kanto region. About 30% of their energy source was nuclear power plants. Now we are facing energy shortage because several nuclear power plants have been stopped due to earthquakes/tsunami and irresponsible fears to nuclear power plants.

Well, I don't understand that Prime Minister Naoto Kan ordered Chubu Electric Co., to stop their nuclear power plants. He ordered to stop it because another major earthquake is expected. He ordered to take enough measures for Tsunami and earthquakes. Then why did he ordered only to this nuclear power plant? There are about 50 nuclear power plants in Japan, and I think they all have risks of earthquake.

In fact, the earthquake in Tohoku was not expected as such a large one. I think, his action was totally non-sense and he made the energy shortage worse.

Here's one example, governor of Fukui prefecture ordered to Japanese government to strict safe measurement for nuclear power plants. And they denies to restart some nuclear power plants in Fukui until these plants will pass the new safe measurement. In Fukui prefecture, there are 15 reactors and 6 of them are stopping due to periodic inspections. Another 2 reactors will be in the periodic inspections in next month.

If the governor denyies to restart these reactors, we'll lost major energy source. Most of reactors in Fukui prefecture are providing for Kansai Electric Co.,. Kansai Electric Co., is providing electric energy for Kansai region (such as Osaka and Kyoto). And they are depending on nuclear energy almost 50%.

Some companies shifted their business to Kansai region due to energy shortage in Tokyo. So if the energy shortage effect to Kansai region, Japanese economy might destroy. I hope the governor will make right decision.

    The earthquake and I

I felt, we almost back to our usual lives. But I don't recommend to visit Tokyo as tourist. Look at the photo below.

Darkish train due to energy saving
The train is a little dark because train operators decided to turn off light in day-time on sunny days. Sometimes, they are turning off air-conditioner even on hot day. Well, it's really uncomfortable. I don't want to ride such a train.

Also the night, most of street lamps are turning off. Well, it's bit dark. Some shops close a little earlier. Then I cannot buy some stuff after I finish my job. Most inconvenience one is ATM. Banks decided to close some of their ATMs at evening. Well, I cannot withdraw my money from my accounts after I finish my job.

Maybe most of buildings will stop to use air conditioner even on hot day. And it might increase the number of heat stroke. I hope this will not happen. We should think about energy saving much more. Just turn off light, air conditioner, and etc is not the only way to saving energy.

    Thank you.
