Hayabusa

These days, there are many things that makes Japanese happy. First one is the football game that Japan could win against Cameroon yesterday. Another one is the great mission of Hayabusa.

I've never heard the artificial object that came back to the earth by themself until Sunday. But JAXA made it!

The asteroid explorer "MUSES-C" as known as "Hayabusa" was launched on 9th May, 2003. And that traveled the space more than 7 years. Hayabusa landed the minor planet "Itokawa" and research many things, get data and it might get sample of sands in Itokawa. It came back to the earth at midnight on 13th June, 2010.

There were no TV station that were broadcasting Hayabusa's re-entry to the earth atmosphere, but I could watch it on Ustream.tv. I heard there were more than 210,000 people who were watching it online. The capsule that Hayabusa separated, landed in Australia. BTW, the sample that Hayabusa collected will be analyzed in JAXA's Sagamihara campus from 18th June. At that time, we will know which Hayabusa could do their mission perfectly or not. Of course, if Hayabusa couldn't, it's ok because Hayabusa did great job!

JAXA is now trying to launch another Hayabusa, but there is one big problem. That is budget. The government didn't prepared the enough money for JAXA. I strongly think that the government should stop "Child Allowance", "free public senior high school tuition" and "Elimination of highway tolls", but they must pay more for JAXA and other technology projects!

Anyway, all I want to write today is "welcome back" for Hayabusa and "great job!" for Japan national team of football.
Thank you.
Good day & Peace and Smile!
