Swine flu
I was misunderstanding about influenza. I believed that the influenza virus is raging throughout only in winter. But these days, I could find many articles that about “swine flu” on newspapers. I heard that one Japanese woman who came back from LA today caught the swine flu. I think, this is the first time that we could find the swine flu in Japan. According to the news, she is now in hospital and some passengers who were seated near her seat went to hospital too.
Especially this week, there were articles of “swine flu” on top news of newspaper... Today’s top page of newspaper was “WHO raises swine flu pandemic alert to phase five”.
Not only the newspaper or TV news. The college sent us the text messages that about “Swine flu”. They gave us the right way to wear mask and the best way to avoid swine flu.
Anyway, one newspaper wrote like “this swine flu is “weakened virus”. But I think, we need to take care about this swine flu even if the virus is weakened. I don’t like this article. I don’t like this newspaper company.

Day of Showa
Today is national holiday “Day of Showa” but I needed to go to the college to take some classes. For most of Japanese, today is national holiday. They went to many places I think. But tomorrow and day after tomorrow are not holiday. Then not so many Japanese went to the remote place I think. I needed to go to the college then I have a day off on this Friday.
Day of Showa was Greenery day until 2007. But before that Greenery day was Showa emperor’s birthday. Both greenery day and the emperor’s birthday are national holiday stil. Greenery day is now 4th May. The emperor’s birthday is now 23rd December.

Talking in English
On Monday, I had a chance to talk with many foreigners in the college. They are from several countries. I talked with 4 persons at that time. They are from Mexico, the United States, Italy and France. We talked each other about an hour. Of course, we talked in English. First, I was really concerned about my English. But I thought that I don’t have to concerned about my English.
In this time, I could know many things like foods, sports and etc... Also, I learned a little about French like “salut”.
Usually, I don’t have chance to talk with foreigners in English. If I have a chance like that, I would like to join.

Golden week has begun?
First of all, I need to explain about “golden week” to you. There’s “golden week” in Japan. But it is not like gold rush... lol It’s a straight holidays in May. There’s many national holidays between end of April and beginning of May. 29th April is “昭和の日(Day of Showa)”. 3rd May is “憲法記念日(Constitution memorial day)”. 4th May is “みどりの日(Day of Midori)”. 5th May is “こどもの日(Kids’ day)”. In this year we can have 16 straight holidays....
But I will have 6 straight holidays, because I need to go to the college. According to the news, we can take 16 straight holidays if we can take some day off. We need to take day off on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week... :(
I think, it is impossible for usual Japanese... But this amazing straight holidays realized because of this recession. Some employees are planning to take this 16 straight holidays...
Anyway, this 16 straight holidays is not a “Golden week”, I think. We need to say like “Golden weeks”... lol So, if I took some day off, I might in this “Golden weeks”. Because this “Golden weeks” must be started on 25th April...
In “Golden week” many people will go to abroad or go trip. We can take holidays easily especially this year, and we are lucky because Japanese yen is really expensive now. Then we can buy many things in the world cheaper than usual...
Not only trips for foreign countries.
If we go trip using our own car with ETC, we can take the special offer for ETC users. We can go many places using high way with only 1,000 yen (about 10 USD).
But I don’t have a big plan like go abroad yet... I wanna visit gallery if I can. Then I might go to gallery during my “golden week”.

be careful
On Thursday, I heard the news that surprised me. I think, most of Japanese surprised by this news this week. One celebrity in Japan arrested for public indecency on early morning Thursday. His name is Tsuyoshi Kusanagi. He is a member of SMAP. SMAP is famous pops group in Japan. He was drunk before he became naked at a park in central Tokyo. According to the news, he drunk more than 10 cups of distilled spirit.
He is very famous in Asian countries like South Korea and China including Japan. In these countries, this news also broadcasted. But I think, Japanese media broadcasted too much.
Anyway, we must worried about this too. We should take about this when we drunk. I think, he stripping naked because he felt that the park is his home.. He lives near that park. He took off his shoes and arranged. Also he held up his clothes. I hope he will back soon.

Earth day
Yesterday was the earth day. I think, I should post this article yesterday but I post it today. I heard about the earth day when I turned on the radio in last morning. I always turn on the radio when I wake up. I like to listen to the radio. Sometimes I change the station but mostly I’m listening my favorite station. J-Wave. J-Wave is my most favorite radio station. If you are in Tokyo or near Tokyo, you can listen to the J-Wave when you turn on your radio and tune it on 81.3[MHz]. Or you can listen to the internet radio on “http://www.j-wavemusic.com/”. We can listen to the J-Wave’s internet radio “Brandnew J” there but Mac users can’t listen... Including me... :(
Anyway, J-Wave is now trying to act against the global warming. One of their action is “Green casting day”. In green casting day, they are broadcasting with green energy (biomas power, wind power, solar power and etc...). Green casting days are every 1st day of month and holidays in Japan. Yesterday was not holiday in Japan but they were broadcasting with green energy (yesterday they were broadcasting with biomas power I think) because yesterday was the earth day. I hope they will broadcast their programs with green energy every day. But I think, it’s really difficult to realize it...
After the earth day, we need to think more about “earth”. Not using the nuclear energy. Yesterday, I decreased the time of using computers. I started to use “my bottle”. I couldn’t find the nice translation on “my bottle”... “My bottle” is one of the action that we are starting to take. All we need to do is just bring your own bottle. And don’t buy the PET bottles and other disposable things. If we use “my bottle”, we can reduce the rubbish and the useless expenses. It is like a tumbler. If we go to the Starbucks with tumbler, we don’t have to throw the cup and we can buy the coffee cheaper.
There are many things that we can do for the earth. There is one more thing that I wanna strongly recommend to do. That is sleep in the night. If we go to the bed early and don’t use electricity, it is good for the earth and for our health. :)
So, get the healthy life with green action. :)

Hard to take?
In my college, we need to take over 400 points in TOEIC test. If we couldn’t take over 400 points until the graduation, we can’t graduate from the college. Most of teachers and professors told us like “The score of the TOEIC test is not the only one way to scale your English ability” but we must take over 400 points... As I posted before, I have already taken over 400 points in TOEIC test before. But I must join two English classes. These classes’ level are not so high because most of us can’t take over 400 points. In these classes, they are trying to teach us how to take over 400 points in TOEIC test. Most of them told us like “listening section is important and easy to take more points”. But it is not so profitable information for me...
One professor told me “you don’t have to take these two English classes, if you can take over 800 points in TOEIC test”. But I couldn’t take over 800 points in TOEIC test in March. I need 60 more points to absent these classes in fairly... :(
Of course, I’ll keep studying English and other subjects. These days, I couldn’t take a lot of time to post this blog. But I hope I will keep posting new article every weekday. with babyish and wrong English lol
Anyway, I will keep studying and someday I wanna take over 900 points... LOL

But this mobile phone is not the first mobile phone that is using photovoltaic battery in the world. I didn't know which maker released the world's first mobile phone that is using photovoltaic battery. But Japan's first mobile phone that is using photovoltaic battery is from Sharp.
I don't have a plan to buy this mobile phone because I'm using iPhone 3G now and I don't have any grouse at my iPhone. And I don't know exact spec of this mobile phone. Then I won't buy it I think. I searched about this information but I couldn't find favorable information about this mobile phone. Then I couldn't know about this mobile phone's spec. So, I can't give you more information about this mobile phone... If I can, I wanna post another post with further information.

JAL
We can know about this airplane crash in this center. This center was founded only for JAL's employees but they decided to open their door to public. Then we can visit the center only weekdays. But we need to book to visit the center.
Then I booked it and visit the center today with my friends. We went there because we need to go there. I'm in engineering course then we need to learn ethics. In the ethics class, we need to write some report and we need to make presentation about the theme. One of the report that is about the feedback of this center. Then I need to write a report about this center right know....

Ichiro did it!
According to the newspaper, there was Japan's record holder Isao Harinoto. He told Ichiro that "Ichiro will break Harinoto's record" before and Ichiro believed that word and he realized it. On 15th April, Ichiro cracked the 3085th hit of his carrerr with grand slam homer. On 16th April, he cracked the 8086th hit of his carreer. He couldn't play until 15th April, because of a stomach ulcer. Then, this was the season-opening game for him. I believe that he will flourish
this year too!

Medical checkup
trains that are running around Tokyo. In April, there are a lot of freshmen in Tokyo. I think many of them don't know the exact train that they need to ride. So, trains are delaying especially in April. Freshmen made these delays, I heard.
I don't have to use trains to go to the college because I can go there by bicycle. Bicycle is really useful transportation way, I believe. I don't have to pay to use my own bicycle. (Of course, I need to buy my bicycle first) Then, I don't have to worry about these delays. I can go to the college by my own pace. But some of my friends are worry
about this problems. Sometimes they late for class.
Anyway, medical checkup. I have to go to the college early in the morning and I need to take today's first urine. But every checkup went good I believe. I can't know the result of x-ray checkup. Of course, I can know which I need take more check or not soon. But I can't know that right now:( I believe every thing went good.

invitation race
On 17th March, Japanese government adopted parliamentary resolution that aspire to host 2016 Olympic in Tokyo. And yesterday, IOC's assessment committee came to Tokyo and they are visiting Olympic sites now. I don't know that which city will host 2016 Olympic, but I hope it will be Tokyo.
Even Hachi-ko is working to invite 2016 Olympic to Tokyo. Hachi-ko is very famous monument in front of JR Shibuya station. Hachi-ko is now wearing crossed sleeve to PR invitation of 2016 Tokyo Olympic. I've never watch this crossed sleeve then I don't have this picture. Then today I picked up the picture of banner that is saying "日本だから、できる。あたらしいオリンピック!(The new Olympic that only Japan can host!)".
I don't know exactly but I hope this visit will be successful.

Honya taisho
Last Monday, incorporated nonprofit organization "本屋大賞実行委員会(Honya taisho executive committee)" announced this year's "本屋大賞(Honya taisho)". This prize is for the book that was selected by staffs of bookstores in Japan. This year's "本屋大賞(Honya taisho)" is "告白(Kokuhaku)" that written by 湊かなえ(Kanae MINATO).
Until last year, I didn't like to read books. But last year I could change my mind and started to read a lot of books. And I could speed up my reading pace. Now I read over one book in a week. It's looks not so great, but I didn't read even one book in a month, before. Then for me it is really great progress.
These days, I love to go to bookstores. And I spent much time in bookstores. Some one said like "Bookstores are wonderland for me", I didn't feel such a feeling before. But now I can know this feeling. Bookstores are wonderland but I need to care about my schedule.

dryness of the eye
So, I decided to post my article without using my eyes!
Of course, it is joke. I might be able to type without using my eyes but I need to check all letters that I typed after I typed whole article.
But I believe that I need to reduce the time to watch these displays...
In Tokyo, I think we are in dry season... It's like summer... The highest temperature was about 25 degrees (Celsius). It's almost summer. And these days there's no rain... There's rainy days but it's half of the average year's rainy days.
It is good for Sakura but it is not good for our daily life I think.

Textbooks
Most of people don’t have to buy these treatises, I think. And most of people wish not to buy these treatises, I think. Because these treatises are used be expensive one.
Also, there are two English classes. In my college, I don’t have to take these English classes if I could get over 800 points in TOEIC test. But I couldn’t get over 800 points. Of course, I don’t have to take these classes after I could get over 800 points. I need 60 more points to get over 800 points... Anyway, both classes use 4 textbooks and these are expensive than other books that I used to buy like pocketbooks or paperbacks. We’ll use three types of textbooks and one word book.
Word book is one of the famous series in Japan, “速読速聴・英単語(Vocabulary Building X Rapid Reading & Listening)”. I’ve already had the one. But it’s not the correct version. I have “速読速聴英単語Business 1200” this word book is for people who have 700 to 900 in TOEIC test. But I need to buy “速読速聴英単語Core 1900” this word book is for people who have 600 to 800 in TOEIC test. The teacher told us that we’ll use it in the class then you must buy this word book. I felt like “what a waste!” but I decided to buy this one too.
Anyway, I didn’t buy every textbooks that I need yet. I need to buy two more textbooks... Maybe I will buy it on Monday or later...

time
These days, I strongly feel that I need to have a watch. Usually I don't have a watch. Most of my friends agreed with my opinion because we have a mobile phone and we can check correct time when we watch our mobile phone. But...
We have some situations that we can't use mobile phone. For example, I can't use mobile phone when I'm in test. I need to turn off my mobile phone. If there's no clock in the room, I can't know what time.
For example, I can't use mobile phone when I'm taking class. In this situation, I can't know what time. But I don't have to know what time, when I'm taking class.
I strongly felt that I need to have a watch when I took TOEIC test in March. I forgot to bring a watch when I took TOEIC test like I wrote before. I was suffering from invisible enemy "time", during I was answering "reading section". Then I decided to have one.
Also, I think I can save my time. As they say "time is money". If I have a watch, I think I can save my time and can use my precious time well. How do you think?

Difference
Intel is releasing many types of processors. "Xeon", "Core 2 Quad", "Core i7" and etc... But I can't understand what are the differences. In my laboratory, we renewed two computers. One of them is using Intel's "Core 2 Quad" processor. Another one is using Intel's "Xeon" processor. I heard that both processors have 4 cores. But I couldn't understand more over about both processors.
Of course, both of them works faster than my MacBook. But I couldn't find the difference between this "Xeon" processor and "Core 2 Quad" processor.
Intel is not the only company that is releasing CPUs. AMD is releasing their CPUs. How many people know the difference between these CPUs? I think, it is not so many people.
If I have a chance, I wanna learn about that. But I think, I don't have to know about that. How do you think?

TOEIC
On 15th March, I had the TOEIC test in the university near my house. This was the third time to had the TOEIC test. First time I had it in December 2006. Second time I had it in June 2008. At that time my score was 645. On Monday, I received a mail from TOEIC organizer. According to that mail, they will send my score and official attestation to me in this month. But I can also check my score on web.
Then I checked it on web. I wrote about that test before. When I had the test in March, I forgot to bring my watch. This was really hard for me to answer questions at ease. I was suffering from invisible enemy "time". But I did my best in that test. I supposed that I could get about 720 points in that test.
Anyway, the real result.
There's two sections in TOEIC test. (I think, many people know that) There's "listening section" and "reading section". I can check both score and total score. My score of "listening section" was 420 points and my score of "reading section" was 320 points. Then total score was 740 points.
These three scores are my highest score. I think, I need to improve my "reading section"'s score. Then I will study more to take more points in "reading section". I hope I will be able to get over 800 points in next time. I think, I will have TOEIC test in this year. Maybe September, October or November. I will report about that when I decided to take next time.

missile?
On Sunday, North Korea launched their missile. Also they announced their satellite orbit attainment successful. But the US and South Korea announced that North Korea failed to launch their missile successfully. The missile fell into the Pacific Ocean. Russia also admitted that they couldn't find North Korea's satellite in the outer space.
But the missile successfully launched until the missile passed over Japan. Then Japanese government didn't intercept the missile. The destruction order was released today.
Anyway, this is the provocation against the global peace, the UN security council must take strong act to North Korea, I think. How do you think?

Satellite or not
Japanese government is now ready to intercept missile. Japanese government think it might not fall on Japanese territory. It's best to be as safe as possible, then they are ready to intercept it. Of course, they will intercept it if it fails and tumbles toward Japanese territory. According to the news, the intercontinental ballistic missile flying over Japanese territory (Akita prefecture, Aomori prefecture and Iwate prefecture). PAC 3 placed in Akita prefecture, Iwate prefecture, Chiba prefecture and Tokyo. PAC 3 placed in 2 places in Tokyo.
According to the news, North Korea will launch its missile on Saturday to Wednesday. We can't know when but they might launch it on Monday. This is depends on the weather there. I heard 6 April (Monday) might be the day that they will launch its missile.
North Korea is warning about that if Japanese government intercept North Korea's satellite, North Korea would revenge act. Then I strongly hope that Japanese government would judge it definitely and immediately.
But I have something on my mind. Japan SDF (self-defense force) invited an accident when they were carrying PAC 3 to Akita prefecture. They lost their destination and clashed to the post of Akita Komachi Stadium. I can't believe such people. They might not be able to intercept North Korea's missile.
Anyway, I hope North Korea would stop to launch the missile. Or I believe that it's really satellite not missile.

April fool
Google is now introducing "CADIE". I don't know it is true or false. But in Japan they started to write 川柳(senryu). Google 川柳 β.
According to the introduction of google 川柳 β this service is powered by CADIE technology. They are now planning to introduce "CADIE" technology. I don't know what is "CADIE" but I think this is not true. They would provide this service only for today I believe. I will check it tomorrow too. You can check it on "Google 川柳 β". But this page is written in Japanese...
Anyway, I need to take care about these faked information.
